Milwaukee Fair Housing Marches - Film Screening & Discussion

Redlining, slumlords, unfair pay and job markets, and educational segregation in Milwaukee in the 1960s are what led to 200 consecutive days of demonstrations, and the nickname "Selma of the North". Fifty years later, as one of the most segregated cities in this country, we wonder how far we've really come...

Join us at Yours Truly at 833 E Center Street on Monday, Oct 2 from 6:30-8:00pm for a screening of Freedom Walkers, a short documentary about the Fair Housing Marches in Milwaukee 50 years ago. The film is 30 minutes, with a discussion to follow.

To facilitate discussion and answer questions, we have invited several elders who were involved in these marches 50 years ago, as well as others who have been integral civil rights activists in our city since. Confirmed list coming soon.

This is an outdoor event, so dress accordingly. Please bring your own lawn chair and/or blankets. Popcorn provided :-)

$1-10 suggested contribution towards Yours Truly ♥ xoxo
